The arcade classics R-Type and R-Type II will be blasting their way onto Xbox Live Marketplace this Wednesday February 4th, in the form of R-Type Dimensions.  Dimensions features both titles with fully updated 3D graphics, as well as including the option to experience them in their original 2D form.  The game will include online co-op over Xbox Live and a new ‘Infinite’ mode that, according to Microsoft, “allows even novice pilots the chance to complete both games in either solo or co-op play via Xbox LIVE”; we presume that means you’ll have infinite lives.

R-Type Dimensions, developed by Tozai Games and SouthEnd Interactive, will set you back 1200 MS points.

As soon as I saw R-Type XBLA, I smiled.

But £12+? I can buy the cartridge for both at less than that.

I agree the price seems steep but I’ll check out the demo first before deciding.
