With Battlestations: Pacific slated for release in Spring of ’09, Eidos has launched a community driven site in anticipation of the game. Battlestations.net is now live and offering up a ship load of content for anyone interested in this upcoming WWII blast.

Sequel to the ’07 Battlestations: Midway, Battlestations: Pacific  picks up where its predecessor left off. Pitching players into World War II’s Pacific conflict, the game should bring action-packed combat and strategic warfare on an extraordinary scale with two distinctly different campaigns. A historically accurate US Campaign puts players in command of the US fleet through The Battle of Midway to Okinawa as they try to secure peace in the Pacific. Players can also join the Japanese and take control of the Imperial Japanese fleet with the unique chance to fight at Pearl Harbor before attempting to change the course of history and take full control of the Pacific Ocean. Players can also take the battle online with five new and co-op and team-based modes.

“Battlestations offers a blend of action and strategy unlike any other videogame on the market and as such has a dedicated and committed community of fans,” said Lee Singleton, General Manager of Eidos Game Studios. “The launch of Battlestations.net as a destination site for both information and discussion on the game comes as a direct result of listening and interacting with our communities.”

Pacific will allow players to command and take direct control of over 100 authentic and prototype air, sea and undersea units. Including the likes of fighters, bombers, kamikaze planes, cruisers, destroyers, aircraft carriers, submarines and more. All of this can be experienced in HD, where Eidos says players will “experience a new level of visual realism where the Pacific Ocean and its chains of islands truly come to life.” Fighting will be conducted durring the day, at night, and in different weather conditions, to help add to the realism.

We can’t wait to see the final product, and if the above video is any indication, this should be an amazing title. So stick with us through the rest of development and we’ll keep you posted on all the latest news from Eidos while we wait to join the battle for Pearl Harbor.
