Big Gulp and a fresh bag of Doritos, really? Is that just in case you get hungry and thirsty while playing WoW for the next 72 hours? Better luck next time on your clever comments.

@duncan: Thanks, man! We love comments like that </sarcasm>.

@crappleton: I don't think the Wii Fit is going to change your life if you've already got an unhealthy lifestyle going. However, as another activity to do during the day that burns calories? Perfect! The treadmill gets really boring after a while, and it's WAY too cold to go out each day up here in AK. Wii Fit is a perfect "enrichment" to my current routine.

How could the Wii Fit NOT work? It makes you do push-ups and sit-ups among other balance games and yoga. These are classic and trusted exercises that have worked for many centuries. Of course the results will show that the Wii Fit is worth the money and your time.

This is a video I just posted this week about my own Wii Fit obsession. Thought you might like.

I say if it gets you off the couch, then it HAS to be doing something for you. Maybe it isn't as great as Nintendo is making it out to be, but in all reality, standing up alone burns more calories than sitting down. So if this has you up and doing multiple tasks that involve keeping your balance and anything that is strenuous.. Then I can't see how it can't be good for you. Now the problem with people here in America is that they feel the more they do to better themselves, the more they can eat in return.. which means in the long run it doesn't help you at all.

So if you're looking for a Wii Fit to get your life turned around, then you need to look many other places before you start jumping on a Wii Fit board. A healthy alternative to normal couch potato gaming this is.. A life changer this is not..

I'm definitely interested in the outcome of this study as well. I own Wii Fit but currently it's not being used due to I need a new power cord for my Wii (I love my cats so much). Though I much prefer DDR for exercise over the Wii Fit. I can see it being useful for the Pilates stretches, even though I do own Pilates - Wii Fit has the advantage of keeping you well balanced during those moves.

I guess your right... If it gets you off the couch it should be looked at as a beneficial thing. Now if the study comes back with a negative result and it doesn't really help, will that tarnish the image of Wii Fit?

I dunno, that's like checking to see if a gym membership causes fitness. You can get fit by eating less and moving more. You can get less fit by ignoring the gym and eating more Doritos. Playing on the Wii Fit today, I definitely worked up a light sweat. That's not a bad thing, esp. if it encourages people to do that more often. Cheaper than a treadmill, too.
