Clover: The Water-Colored Political Platformer?

We have all played our fair share of wacky games in our lives, but let’s face it: something that has always been missing in our gaming adventures is a Water-Color Political Platform Puzzler. In fact this idea sounds so outrageous that we hadn’t even considered this combination to be possible. (Then again, we didn’t see the Rhythm-War-Strategy-RPG’ness of Patapon coming, either. – Ed)

Today an independent game studio that goes by the name of Binary Tweed Inc. announced it’s debut game entitled: Clover.

When this game releases we will be introduced to Sam, a purple-haired adolescent who seems to be wearing denim jeans even though he lives in a medieval world, being ruled by a monarchy, which is in a “welfare state.” Sam is recently orphaned after his single mother died in a brutal shock attack on the proud nation of Sanha which Sam calls home.

We’re betting that because Sam is wearing clothes that haven’t been invented yet, and he’s wearing enough hair gel to make Cloud Strife have a melt down…perhaps the monarchy is angry with him for messing up the space-time continuum? But we digress…

Clover follows Sam’s journey of discovery as he explores the land and events surrounding his loss.

“Clover is a game about artwork and plot; so much so that we’re struggling to fit everything within the size limit,” said Daniel ‘Deejay’ Jones, Managing Director of Binary Tweed. “We wanted to make a game that has the artistic charm to appeal to a broad audience, whilst exploring issues that communicate to adult gamers.”

Clover is set to be a plot driven platformer that sees the player solve logical puzzles, talking to a diverse cast of characters and exploring artistically realized environments. Clover will feature many hours of game play but a hard number is as of yet unannounced.

Binary Tweed has announced that they will have a unique way of dealing with Health and Death. With any luck we can get a health bar that dosent regenerate simply by sitting in the corner and sucking your thumb for a few seconds :-)

Since Clover is being created by an independent game studio you’re not going to find it in the regular Xbox Live Arcade area, but rather for a low 400 Microsoft Points in the Community Games section.

Clover hits our water colored hearts in the early months of 2009 and as always we‘ll be here to cover its release as well as provide any new information.
