Despite the fact that Super Smash Bros. Melee is already available for the Wii, it seems that there are a large number that still long for the original retro N64 classic.
NintendoWiiFanboy is reporting that Nintendo has heard your cries and decided to throw us all a bone, scheduling the Nintendo 64 version of Super Smash Bros. for release in early January. Before you get too excited, there is a small catch… it is only coming out on the Japanese Virtual Console!
Once again, North Americans end up getting the short end of the stick. But this doesn’t mean that all hope is lost. Last year Poke’mon Snap made an appearance on the Japanese Virtual Console, only to land stateside a mere six days later, completely unannounced. Lets just hope that the same rings true for this situation. You can bet that we will all be waiting with baited breath.
Now if you will excuse me, I have to run to the store and purchase a Wii Point card. You know, just in case the release sneaks up on us!
