“Trophies will be mandatory for titles submitted after January 1, 2009,” Said a Sony rep. “Of course, many teams have already started to incorporate trophies and have added support for older titles.”

The one gripe I have always had with the PS3 Trophy system is that it isn’t mandatory. While a lot of developers have gone back and added trophies to their titles, some have a chosen to ignore the masses of players who want trophies in their games. Which is why I’m extremely excited that beginning in 2009, trophies will be mandatory implementation in all games.

Great news for all those players out there who are addicted to collecting trophies.
