PSP fanboys take issue with Apple VP

So, Apple’s vice president of iPod marketing Greg Joswiak spoke to t3 magazine, 1Up wrote it up, and then PSP Fanboy put up their own rebuttal (confused, yet?). According to the Fanboys, they take issue with Mr. Joswiak’s statement about iPod gaming as the future of gameplay, and how the other handhelds are “more in the past.” The boys rail against his argument against the DS and PSP, and cite the PSP’s superior graphics and the DS’s touch screen as reasons for why he’s wrong. They go on to say that while Apple’s electronic delivery system is “impressively large,” the PSP has a new online store, accessible from PC, PS3 and PSP.
Now, we’re not fanboys here. We like gaming on any console or handheld, if it indeed provides a quality gaming experience. I enjoy my PSP and DS, but find myself playing iPhone games quite a bit more often. Why is that? Part of it is the lack of expense when purchasing an App Store game. I don’t have to pay $20 or $30 for a game for the DS or PSP. With that kind of cash, I can buy several games for the iPHone, from a variety of categories. I have many more games on my iPhone than I do on the PSP, for this very reason.
Another point to be made is the fact that I always have my iPhone with me. It’s my PHONE, so I’m not really ever without it. It’s my music and video player of choice. The PSP never really cut it as a media player for me due to a lack of storage options and a real learning curve to convert and put video files on it. It’s also my mobile internet device of choice. The DS needs a cartridge to go online, for heaven’s sake. I check my email, look at Twitter, etc. all on this one device. Of course it’s the device I use most often.
What do you all think? Are you more of a “carry my PSP and DS around” gamer, or do you look to Apple’s new device for your gaming on the go?

I don’t like to take my DS with me everywhere I go. I ride a Harley, don’t like saddle bags, and I’m not a huge fan of backpacks. So Unless I’m going somewhere with the whole family, I wont take the DS. Now an iPhone.. if I could afford one.. I might play quite a bit. But I can’t imagine spending that kind of money on a phone when my work provides my nextel for free..
We have PSP, I use to have a DS Lite as well but never took them with me. I’m sure I would of played them both a lot more if I did but it was a hassle. Having to bring the console itself, plus whatever games, and then if it died you were screwed unless you had the charger with you and an outlet. My iPhone; I can charge it in the car and play my games anywhere without having to bring cartridges with me. And I agree tons on the price of games on the iPhone vs. having to buy for the PSP or DS. Hopefully this will bring some prices down on games. *wishful thinking*
