The Nintendo DS has always been a notorious bed of piracy. Nintendo had at first tried to battle this epidemic, but eventually succumbed under the pressure of third party, flash capable DS cartridges.
When the DSi was announced, the widely spread consensus among the community was that Nintendo would do more to try to lock down the security. To go along with the new security measures, there was also a new Digital Rights Management system that was backed into the device’s firmware. But alas, it looks like they didn’t try hard enough. Less than a week after the launch of the product, there are already videos floating around the net, supposedly showing homebrew code being executed on a DSi.
While this looks to be legitimate, I am trying to remain as skeptical as possible. If this is in fact a hacked DSi, then I can’t wait to see what is looming around the corner for the homebrew scene. So what do you think? Does it look kosher to you?
