Computer Defeats Guitar Hero for Wii, Mankind Officially Doomed

Like many civilizations over the past few millennia, the key to their downfall has been technology.  Well it looks like that day may be nigh of us as well.  According to Wired.com, Cyth Systems has designed a robot that will actually play Guitar Hero for you!

The rig shown at right consists of an aluminum frame that suspends the guitar, while pneumatic “fingers” activate the frets on specific intervals.  There is also a pair of pneumatic levers that are attached to both the strum and whammy bars for note activation and added badassery.

What makes this so neat is that the notes are not programed into the computer to line up with the console.  Instead, using a camera of sorts, a video feed is captured and read into a computer.  The computer then analyzes the notes and activates the “robo-rocker.”

Hard to believe, eh?  Check out the video of the uber-cool device below:

While feats of engineering have always been known to fascinate mankind, this leaves us to ponder how much money a rig of this nature took to design. Whats next, a robot that can play the trumpet? Oh crap, they have one of those too? I guess we’re all doomed!
