14 Million on the PSN?

Sony announced last week that there were 14 million active PSN accounts. Well, turns out there are 14 million PSN accounts, they all just aren’t on the PS3. That figure includes all accounts active on the PSP as well. So does that statement still hold true?

“Seeing as PlayStation Portable does include the PlayStation Network services (i.e. games store natively on PSP), yes those numbers do include all PlayStation Network registrations,” Sony told GameSpot.

This is still great news for Sony, having made such a substantial gain in their online services. However a bit misleading as they had announced this at the second birthday of the PS3, stating that they had matched Xbox Live. In a sense they still have matched Xbox Live’s numbers. Seeing how Xbox has yet to introduce a handheld gaming system. Despite this bit of info it is still unclear how many users are on the PS3 at this time, but we are still looking forward to meeting more people on the PSN as it continues to expand it’s audience.
