Nintendo has been holding Wii Music very close to its proverbial chest as of late. They have been so protective of the product, that there was not a single track confirmed for the game – until yesterday. According to SiliconEra, and verified by Nintendo of Japan, the first six tracks on the game are as follows:
My Grandfather’s Clock
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
Ode to Joy
Super Mario Brothers Theme
The Legend of Zelda
Animal Crossing Wild World
The sources then went into further details about the following tracks, noting:
My Grandfather’s Clock was a bluegrass song, but it got a J-Pop cover from Ken Hirai. It’s unclear if Nintendo of Japan plans to include the remake or the original song. Ode to Joy also got a J-Pop remake from boy band KAT-TUN, but Wii Music might be using the original composition from Beethoven. Without the vocals it’s difficult to distinguish. Both of these songs are likely to be in the US version too since their international appeal predates any covers. At least Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is clearly the original composition. In addition to those there are three Nintendo medleys which rounds out six of the 50 songs. At E3 I remember Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Yankee Doodle were in it too, but that sums up like eight songs. — SiliconEra
We’re sure Wii Music will have much more to offer, and it’s important to remember that this is a music game in the strictest sense of the word. Lets just hope that they can manage to nail the Nintendo medleys. I would call for a wait and see on this purchase depending on your preferences, at least until we have a better idea what we are getting into. We will know more when the game releases on October 20th.

GAY
hahah tim said it perfectly… people wanna pretend to be rock stars not composers! anyone can be a composer (in real life) geez
Whilst I agree that the music selection is…dodgy – Roo – this game has absolutely NOTHING to do with composing. It is about conducting.
And you might find that whilst they don’t have the same profile as rock stars, in the classical music world, conductors are the equivalent of rock stars, many of the greats burning the candle at both ends.
And if err… anyone could do it, then why isn’t everyone doing it, and making a ton of money, like the best conductors do….
You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.
Well said Fourteentoone – and I do agree. But let’s uncover the BS and get down to brass tacks: It has the name “Wii” in front of the title. It’s going to sell millions of copies. And I bet it will definitely have appeal in schools, and to about 3/4 of the existing Wii audience. it’s competition is only itself, not Rock Band or GH. Totally different animal.
Come on guys!! Are you freaking addicted to Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band this far?
This ISN’T meant to be a ROCK game! It’s a MUSIC game!
I very much believe that while yes the concept seems a bit half baked, the overall idea of the game will be brilliant. Miyamoto has proved time and time again that his games are amazing and is laughing all the way to the bank. We should be looking at this as an artistic endeavor and see what comes out of it.
Seriously, it’s a game by freaking Miyamoto. How can it be bad? It’s not Guitar Hero (and thank goodness for that – we already have 2 rock-themed music games), and it’s Nintendo. It’s a very different perspective on games and gaming in general. I agree that this will do very very well.
Did Roo just say that anyone can be a composer? WHOA, reality check.
