I couldn’t help but smile when I saw the press release about this game. It’s very much tongue in cheek, something I’ve come not to expect from info about new games.
What struck me was that this game has the potential to be another perfect game to play drunk*. It could join the list of games such as Halo 3, Super Bomberman, any of the Fifa series and countless others.
“I love pirates,” said Captain Rick Stults, Console Chief at Gamecock Media Group.
“Everyone knows ninjas beat down pirates daily,” countered Chris Stockman, Studio Director of Blazing Lizard.
I must admit that I’m not exactly akin to the ‘ancient’ rivalry between the nautical outlaws and the stealthy martial artists, but I’m definitely excited to find out who will be able to settle the score for good. In addition to pirates and ninjas, players will also be able to unlock zombie and robot teams with each team having it’s own unique style and deadly special moves.
Continued Captain Rick, “Our office isn’t immune to the timeless debate and even now I brandish a cutlass and eye patch to show my support. The debate has gone on for long enough and I’m ready to see pirates rise to the top and put those pyjama pansies in their place.”
To which Chris said, “What Rick doesn’t know is both prefer to settle the score on the dodgeball field. We are bringing together mortal adversaries for what I can guarantee will be intense dodgeball action. Albeit one in which the ninja warrior will prevail.”
You’ll be able to settle the score in a variety of different ways through both traditional and enhanced dodgeball modes. There’s support for up to four local players, (or eight online via Xbox Live) as well as four player co-op modes.
Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball is now available for download on Xbox Live Arcade for just 800 points. You can also find out more and send diabolical musical messages to your friends at www.piratesvsninjas.com.
This is definitely a game to try out, slap down 800 points if you love it, and then prepare for the worldwide tournaments to begin!
