Jeopardy! Announced For PSN; Launches September 11

After a surprise trailer was uploaded to PSN last week, Sony Online Entertainment has now confirmed that the Jeopardy! game will be available for purchase on PSN on September 11th.

The game looks stunningly like its real-life television counterpart, recreating the set with seemingly painstaking precision. There looks to be a fair amount of player customization so that you can put yourself into the game.

A post on the PlayStation Blog indicates that, rather than typing in answers using the controller and a virtual keyboard, a multiple choice system will be used to pick the correct answer from after a player buzzes in. Over 2,500 answers and their correct questions are included in the game, with expansions being promised for 2009. In addition, online and offline multiplayer functionality will be included, as well as in-game achievements (no Trophy support, though… yet) and multiple levels of difficulty.

The price for this title has yet to be announced, as of press time is $14.99, but the feature set seems pretty rich for a downloadable game and the promise of expansions (we’ll try to find out if those expansions will be free) – as well as the possibility of Trophy support a bit further down the road – makes Jeopardy! a title to think about once it’s uploaded for purchase.

Look for a full review soon.

(The blog entry also mentions that Wheel of Fortune is development. Sweet!)
