Some new announcements from Sony at the German Games Convention
New PSP 3000, with an enhanced screen, built in microphone, Skype and Go!Messenger. Wil not replace the PSP Lite or Slim models, and will run €199, or $235 (conversion to US Dollars is ours; the convention is in Germany).
New PS3 models: 80GB PS3 this week and a limited edition 160GB PS3 scheduled for the end of October for a RRP of €449 ($735)
Sony is pitching the 160GB model at “those of you out there with an insatiable thirst for downloadable content and an unquenchable need for storage space.” Because, you know, none of us are like that.
They also announced a new music video streaming service for the PS3, The ability to play SingStar songs from PS2 on the PS3, and talked about Heavy Rain, which is supposed to change gaming as we know it. Sure it will.
All in all, some cool new incremental updates to Sony gaming hardware, yes?
Screenies from Heavy Rain and SingStar after the break:

I don’t know about changing gaming as we know it, but Heavy Rain looks amazing. It reminds me of Shenmue, which at the time kind of did in fact change gaming due to it’s open-world system…
Roblef, I noticed you don’t own a PS3 yet. You didn’t seem that impressed with Sony’s announcements you mentioned at Leipzig, but surely you’re interested in getting one? If you are, I suggest you take a look at this Stacker 2 contest going on where you can win a PS3 or Xbox 360 (your choice). All you have to do is design a 6 Hour Power t-shirt (this is surprisingly easier than it sounds). There are less than 200 entrants as of now, so you got to like your chances. You can also win a copy of Rise of the Argonauts, a year’s supply of 6 Hour Power energy shots, and more. For contest details, go here: http://www.brickfish.com/Entertainment/Stacker2?tab=overview
Let me know if you enter and I’ll gladly vote for your design. By the way, I hope you don’t mind me commenting on your post. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.
