(iPhone) Much Needed Super Monkey Ball Update

Submitted by Jason Evangelho on Tuesday, 12 August 2008One Comment

Did you, like 300,000 other folks (self included), succumb to the Super Monkey Ball hype and drop $10 on it when the App Store went live? Yes? Ok, next question:

Do you regret it?

Outstanding graphics and audio, absolutely. But, the controls are it’s Achilles Heel. It’s been my intent to draft an honest review for Super Monkey Ball, the iPhone’s flagship game title, but I stalled, mainly because the overly sensitive accelerometer controls caused me, more than once, to almost fling the iPhone against a wall. Or possibly do this.

Fortunately, Sega has been listening to the 1000’s of complaints flooding their inbox, and are programming an update allowing us to adjust the “Dead zone” which is a spot where you hold the iPhone so that your favorite monkey stops moving. And stops falling out every other turn.

According to MTV Multiplayer, there’s no release date just yet, but it can’t come soon enough.
